In a glittering ceremony at the Sirimavo Bandaranaike Memorial Exposition Centre of the BMICH, Colombo 07, the prestigious President’s Awards for Scientific Research (PASR) for publication years 2019 and 2020 were held on November 21, 2023. The event, organized by the National Research Council (NRC), aimed to honor the brilliance of authors and inventors whose work showcased scientific significance during these two years.
A remarkable 32 scientists from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura (USJ) clinched the coveted PASR for their outstanding contributions to research. This event, an annual tradition since 1999, is a testament to the commitment of the NRC in building a vibrant scientific and technological community in Sri Lanka.
The PASR program conferred a total of 598 awards to 485 scientists, emphasizing the crucial role science plays in shaping the nation’s future. This national honor, bestowed by the President of Sri Lanka, underscores the significance of the efforts of these scientists in advancing the frontiers of knowledge. The NRC continues to foster a culture of innovation and excellence, ensuring that the legacy of the PASR program lives on in the scientific community of Sri Lanka.
