@New Ecosphere Resilience Research Center Facility opens

First fully-fledged research facility opens besides the new Faculty of Applied Science building. The new research facility is one of its first step towards building a research-based container complex that facilitates environment related research related activities. The strategy behind the facility is to bring in research activities to drive towards providing solutions to striving environmental problems and provide analytical techniques at an efficient manner. Currently, four convertainers are in place accommodating both laboratory and office spaces with a multimedia room.

Sr. Professor Sampath Amaratunge, the Vice Chancellor at the time, was the Chief Guest unveiling the plaque opening of the new facility. Prof. Laleen Karunayake, Dean of Faculty of Applied Sciences, also opened the center.
