Research Dictionary Project (RDP) is designed to fulfill the existing gap of terminological knowledge on research in both humanities and social sciences. The main objective of the project is to publish a concise dictionary in Sinhala medium with accurate terminological descriptions of selected technical terms in the field of research. The project is sponsored and directed by the International Center for Multidisciplinary Studies (ICMS) of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. The 1st phase of the Dictionary was initiated in 2017 and was led by the former Dean of the Faculty, Prof. D.P.S. Chandrakumara, chaired by the former Director of ICMS, Prof. Chamalie Nahallage and steered by two members of ICMS; Prof. Ven. Medagampitiye Wijithadhamma (Humanities) and Prof. Ven. Pinnawala Sangasumana (Social Sciences). The 1st Volume of the Dictionary was published in April, 2019 in concomitant to the 60th anniversary celebrations of the university.
The writing panel consists of at least 60 members. Emeritus Professor M. M. Karunanayake, Emeritus Professor Jayadeva Uyangoda, Emeritus Professor B. A. Tennyson Perera, Professor Rathna Wijetunga, Senior Professor Ananda Tissa kumara, Senior Professor Ratnasiri Arangala, Mr. Ganushka Randula from the prominent universities contributed as the review panel and the language editing panel for the dictionary.
The 2nd phase of the Dictionary was initiated in 2019 to publish the Volume II of the Encyclopeaedic dictionary. Volume II was initiated under the guidance of the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Shirantha Heenkenda, Dr. Sujeewa Hettiarachchi, the Director of ICMS, Prof. Ven. Medagoda Abhayathissa (Humanities) and Prof. Ven. Pinnawala Sangasumana (Social Sciences) are contributing as the chief editors of the dictionary.
Annotation writing stage for the Volume II is now in process.
Experts in the fields of Humanities and Social Sciences are welcome to contribute to the dictionary.
